About #
Nine years ago I joined RMIT Online as a consultant to build a student analytics platform. I’m now Head of Engineering — accountable for the full technology function powering one of Australia’s leading online education providers.
In that time I’ve led a team through a complete Shopify migration touching Salesforce, MuleSoft, Canvas, and identity systems. Rebuilt our website on headless AWS architecture, cutting infrastructure costs by $60k. Rolled out GitHub Copilot across the engineering team. Built the delivery practices, team norms, and engineering guilds that hold it all together.
Before RMIT, I spent six years as an independent iOS developer — building apps from concept to store for startups in Melbourne, San Francisco, and New York. Before that, I was part of the engineering leadership team at Current TV in San Francisco — Al Gore’s user-generated content startup — where I led the back-end engineering team, scaling to 2M monthly users across three international markets. And earlier still, nearly a decade as a software architect delivering enterprise Java platforms in the US insurance sector.
I’m now deliberately investing in what comes next — going deeper on AI-augmented engineering, modern delivery culture, and what effective technical leadership looks like as organisations scale.
Specialisation #
Technical Leadership #
Building teams worth joining. Creating environments where engineers grow, decisions get made, and the work is genuinely good.
Engineering Strategy #
Connecting technical direction to business outcomes. Making the roadmap legible to founders, boards, and engineers alike.
Scalable Architecture #
Designing and delivering web systems that hold up under pressure — across AWS, multiple stacks, and real-world constraints.
Delivery Culture #
Moving teams from process-for-process’s-sake to delivery that actually works. Fewer ceremonies, better outcomes.
AI & Modern Tooling #
Hands-on exploration of how AI tooling changes the shape of engineering work — practically, not theoretically.
